A 31-year-old Florida man trying to cure his 10-year-old daughter's fear of heights ended up breaking his own leg. While on a daily bike ride, Troy Stewart suggested to his daughter Meagan that they jump off a 15-foot bridge as a remedy to cure her acrophobia.

Meagan made the jump into the Intracoastal Waterway safely, but her dad broke his leg in what police described as "an example of what not to do as a parent."

"Let this be a lesson to everybody: Somebody's tried it, and it's not a good idea," police Capt. Andy Rundle told the AP.

Recalling the Monday evening incident, Meagan said, "At first he said, "Do you want to do it or not?'"

"I thought, 'It's kind of high,' and then he's like, 'Trust me,'" she said.

Stewart was able to get out of the water and waited nearby as Meagan rode her bike back home and alerted her mother, who called authorities.

"In his mind, he was playing," Meagan's mother Mandy Potter, 32, said of her partner. "But I don't condone his child's play."
