Officials are finding it difficult to digest the story as narrated by a Port St. Lucie couple. According to the account provided by them, Michael Moylan, 45, woke up with a severe headache Monday night and asked his wife to drive him to a hospital, where doctors informed him that he had a bullet lodged behind his right ear.

After a search of couple home, authorities arrested Michael's wife April Moylan who later admitted that she accidentally shot her husband. An investigation revealed that the shot was fired from a close range.

"How can this guy be shot, not know that he was shot in bed and then walk into a hospital room. It was just amazing to all of us," Sheriff Ken Mascara told the AP adding that officials are further investigating the matter.

According to police records, both husband and wife are convicted felons and have made several trips to jail on charges including drug abuse, domestic battery, drunken driving and probation violations.
