After his failed attempts to put off the fire in his bedroom by water and a window cleaner, a 19-year-old man from Phoenix, Arizona drove all the way to a neighborhood Wal-Mart to buy a fire extinguisher.
Jonathan Zaletel was using a toaster to cook methamphetamine in his bedroom closet when the appliance caught fire. To escape the police's attention for fear of being caught, he decided to put out the fire on his own.
By the time Zaletel returned home, the sprinkler system had put out the flames and neighbors had called the fire department. On further investigation, the authorities booked Zaletel on suspicion of manufacturing dangerous drugs, possession of chemicals and equipment to manufacture dangerous drugs.
According to AP reports, Zaletel was also changed for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and criminal damage.
