A man gave a package to one of his female co-workers that seemed to startle everyone.
Mahlon Hector pleaded guilty to delivering a rare Mexican red-kneed tarantula in a box addressed to the colleague. While his coworker got that gift, he gave his resignation to his boss.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were alerted because of the tarantula and they took the spider away.
A spokesman for the society said, "It was a daft idea. They are not the most dangerous spider, but it could be fatal if it is given to someone who has an allergic reaction to it. The woman who received it must have been terrified."
