Police arrested a 35-year old man Tuesday on charges of cruelty to animals after he was found to have a 14-foot python wrapped around his body while strolling along a highway.

Long Island's Suffolk County police identified the suspect as Curtis Dewberry of Wading River.

Dewberry was reportedly seen by an officer for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tuesday afternoon while walking with the python wrapped around his torso.

The officer said he decided to call the police since python is largely considered a danger to the public.

Aside from animal cruelty, Dewberry has also been charged with failure to protect the public against dangerous wildlife.
