A 21-year-old man in Quezon City Philippines killed himself early morning Monday, after saving his neighbor who tried to end his life by hanging.

The suicide victim was identified as Reynandro Platon, a resident of Quezon City, Philippines.

His brother-in-law, Efren Falceto, rushed him to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police said that hours before Platon hanged himself, he rescued a suicidal neighbor he found hanging from a rope. Platon reportedly cut the rope and rushed the neighbor to the United Doctor's Medical Center for medical treatment.

However, when he returned home, Platon was nagged by his wife who confronted him about his drinking habits and told him to stop drinking to prevent his diabetes from worsening.

Platon's then waited for his housemates to fall asleep before taking his own life.
