A Japanese man makes 37,760 silent calls to directory information so he could hear the "kind" voices of female operators.
Police arrested the 44-year-old this week for obstructing the operations of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. by making 905 calls per day.
He admits to the daily Mainichi Shimbun, "When I made a complaint call once, the operator dealt with it very kindly, so I wanted to hear these women's voices."
Police say the calls resulted in psychological distress to more than 100 female operators.
