A man has set-up an internet site to raise money for a single $2 million, 30-second Super Bowl advertising spot to propose marriage to his girlfriend.

The man, who goes by the name JP, opted not to use his real name to keep his plans from his girlfriend.

The Super Bowl is the most-viewed television event of the year, watched by some 90 million people nationwide. The proposal is set for the February 4 game.

When his months of online fundraising fell short, JP asked for the help of experts to forward his cause to corporate sponsors.

Joe Morin, chief executive of an online product placement company called Storybids Inc., has already approached several companies to sell the product placement rights in a video of the girlfriend's response.

"They'll be identified somewhere in the ad, but the ad is not about them," Morin said. "They basically just want to give him his moment."

In addition to appearing in the response video, the unidentified girlfriend is already booked to appear on morning talk shows the next day.

Although there is always the risk that the girlfriend will say no at the circumstances surrounding the proposal.

Morin said it does not worry him.

"Knowing her personality, I think she'll be good-natured about it and go for it," he said.
