A well-intended truck driver was prevented, by town officials, from throwing over $100,000 out of the window "because the building was air-conditioned."

Walter Maier from St. Sebastian, won a contest sponsored by radio station RPR1 in Ludwigshafen Germany where listeners were asked to come up with a novel use for the money. The radio station asked listeners to answer the question: "What would you do for 100,000 euros ($130,000)."

Over 12,000 participants entered their own ideas but Maier bested the rest when she said he would throw most of it out of the window.

The judges declared him a winner and ruled that $100,000 was enough to qualify as "most" and was allowed to keep the remaining $30,000.

However, when town officials in Mainz, southwester Germany was presented with the idea, the stunt was immediately rejected because the building was air-conditioned and it was not possible to open the windows.

Now RPR1 said it was looking for another town hall with old-fashioned ventilation to carry out with the plan.
