A tourist from Connecticut has been robbed twice while walking Alii Drive on the Big Island of Hawaii.
According to police, the 50-year-old tourist, Derrick Schull was walking about at 3:25 a.m. on Wednesday when he was robbed for the first time.
Schull told police that a dark-colored sport utility vehicle got closer to him, then three men in their 30s got out of the vehicle and asked him to give up his wallet. After Schull gave it to them, they drove away.
The second alleged robbery bid took place five minutes later.
According to Schull, four males, including two juveniles, appeared from some bushes and demanded his wallet.
When he told them he had no wallet, two of them started beating him.
Schull suffered minor injuries in the scuffle, but refused medical treatment.
