A man was arrested Sunday night for armed robbery at a local Subway sandwich shop.
The weapon the man was wielding was a hammer.
According to police, 51-year old Gordon weathers held up the Subway shop, using the hammer to threaten the restaurant clerk.
Authorities were called to the scene, and according to The Grand Rapids Press Kent County Sheriff's Deputy Kelly Vitton responded.
Deputy Vitton recalled seeing "a suspicious vehicle parked nearby," according to Lt. Kevin Kelly, and apprehended and arrested the suspect shortly after the robbery, which occurred at around 8 p.m. that night.
Leathers is currently detained at the Kent County Jail, reported the AP, having not yet posted his $20,000 bond.
He is set to appear at a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 16.
