A Wisconsin man is trying to beat the world record for the longest arm hair with his 4.1 inch long "mutant hair." The current mark stands at just under four inches.

Jon Sanford, 37, says he had downloaded the necessary forms from Guinness, faxed them back and received further directions.

Going by the instructions, Sanford needed two witnesses whom he do not know and "they have to be respected in the community."

Those two people are fire chief John Skodinski and patrol officer Shane Wrucke.

To comply with rules, they watched him wash his hair before measuring.

"We're not always saving lives and protecting property. We also do other things," Skodinski told the AP.

Regularly washing it and occasionally conditioning it, his daughter thinks it's cool but his mother, Sue, thinks it's gross. If affirmed by the Guinness World Records, Sanford will receive a certificate from the organization.
