Angered because his wife did not buy beer, a man shot one of the family's two pet goats.

The man, 48-year old Peter W. Mischler, was said to have come home from a hunting trip, and was enraged to find out that his 22-year old daughter had let the goats out, allowing the animals to make a mess.

The daughter was at the time on the phone with her mother, and Mischler ordered her to tell the mother to bring home beer.

When his wife refused, Mischler threatened to shoot the goats.

The Associated Press reported that the wife came home without the beer, and as she and her daughter were inside the house four gunshots were heard.

When the two went outside they found that one of the two family goats had been by Mischler. The goat, who was still alive with its entrails out, had to be put down by a sheriff's deputy afterwards.

The Post Crescent added that officials arrested Mischler later that day at a local bar, and was charged in the Waupaca County Circuit Court for mistreatment of animals possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon.

He was placed on a $1,000 bond by a Judge Raymond Huber, who set court proceedings for Tuesday.
