A man was accidentally shot in the arm after a rescuer tried to free him from the jaws of a crocodile in Northern Australia.

Police said Jason Grant was collecting crocodile eggs near a popular tourist spot on the Mary River, near Darwin, when he was attacked by the reptile.

A fellow who saw the incident, got his gun and fired two shots at the saltwater crocodile, one hitting the croc, the other hitting Grant in the arm

A helicopter was immediately dispatched to bring Grant to a hospital.

Ironically, while crocodile attacks and shootings are rare in Australia, Grant has to endure suffering both.
