A man fell 22 feet to the ground as he accidentally threw himself out of his window three stories high along with a Christmas tree he was trying to take down.
According to Moenchengladbach police, the man claimed he lost his balance while throwing the tree on the streets.
However, landing on the pavement together with tree did not cushion his fall as he sustained severe head injuries.
"There's a TV advert showing people having fun throwing their old Christmas trees out the window," said police spokesman Willy Thevessen. "But you're not supposed to jump with them."
The man was immediately taken to hospital after the incident.
