A court in Munich has ordered a man to pay $2665 in damages for trying to kill himself after he jumped in front of a train, Reuters reported Tuesday afternoon.

The court's spokesperson said the 47-year-old man who intended to land under the train missed his target and fell through the driver's side window. The man incurred wounds on his head but had no other serious injuries.

"Although the man was not guilty of a crime, there is a rule in the civil code which means that for reasons of equity, he had to pay for part of the damage," the spokesperson said.
