A man from New Zealand who had his right leg amputated because of diabetes is attempting to sell it to raise money for his daughter who has inherited the disease.

Shane Torrence, 42, stored his tattooed leg in his freezer for 15 months before he decided to put it up for sale on the online auction Web site Trade Me. But the Web site said it was "distasteful" and withdrew it.

He says he doesn't know exactly why he kept the leg.

"Maybe it's because I'd had it for 42 years," Torrence says.
