Authorities arrested a man for driving with a dummy disguised as a man in order to drive in the carpool lane.

The unnamed driver had placed the dummy at the backseat, and was pulled over by state patrol when the mannequin slumped forward and could not be seen by authorities.

Although it was not the first time that a driver had attempted a similar stunt, it was the first time that the dummy was that disguised: it had been outfitted with a denim jacket over a purple hoodie, and eyeglasses. A face, complete with bright blue eyes and a beard, was painted on.

"This guy, he went to great extremes," the AP quoted State Patrol Trooper Jeff Merrill.

"They're getting better, aren't they?" he continued. "I need to make an exhibit."

Officials reported that the driver admitted to using the dummy to make it seem like he wasn't driving alone, making him eligible to use the carpool lane.

He then replied that next time, he would place the dummy on the passenger's seat, and strap a seatbelt on it to prevent it from slumping forward.

The driver was allowed to keep the dummy, but was charged with a $124 fine.

"It's not a crime to have it," the Seattle Post-Intelligencer further quoted Merrill. "But if you use it to cheat, then you're going to get a ticket."
