The authorities of city of Melbourne have issued retired Kennedy Space Center mechanic Jack Garrison an apology, after it was found that he was erroneously charged of feeding squirrels. He was charged with a barking dog violation along with four squirrel-related charges.

According to the AP, the authorities have admitted their mistake that Garrison who doesn't own a dog and a squirrel, either, was wrongly charged. They said that someone called to complain that Garrison was feeding squirrels in his backyard and an automated computer program spit out the charges.

Garrison, who admits that he likes to feed the squirrels in his backyard, called the infractions just plain nuts.

He was issued notices of fines totaling nearly $1,400.
