Five sheriff's deputies will be disciplined after two undercover deputies zapped a North Carolina man with a Taser while he was serving as a pall bearer at his father's funeral and loading the coffin into a hearse. Another pall bearer said the incident was so frightening that the other pall bearers nearly dropped the casket of 70-year-old Gladwyn Taft Russ Jr. , who was being buried with military honors.

An American in Germany afflicted with leukemia and AIDS has been cured of the immune system disease after receiving a bone marrow transplant meant to cure his blood disease, his doctor claimed Thursday. Hematologist Gero Huetter, 39, only identified the patient as a 42-year-old man living in Berlin and being treated at the city's Charité Medical University. The man has been suffering from AIDS for more than 10 years and also has leukemia.

Charlotte police found an abandoned baby boy in the bathroom of a fast-food restaurant believed to be only hours old. The infant was found in good condition in the women's restroom of a McDonald's restaurant in southwest Charlotte Wednesday morning.

Police in the small community of St. Johns, Ariz. arrested an 8-year old boy on premeditated murder charges after they say he shot and killed his father and another man Wednesday. The boy, whose name has not been released because of his age, was charged Friday with two counts of premeditated murder in the deaths of his father, 29-year-old Vincent Romero and 39-year-old Timothy Romans, St. Johns Police Chief Roy Melnick said.
