A local court in India has granted an application of a husband for divorce based on the ground that his wife is HIV positive. The judgment was handed down district judge Rajnish Bhatnagar, who said marriage without sex is "anathema. " He said in his judgment, "The disease being sexually communicable, the petitioner cannot be reasonably expected to live with her and lead a happy married life. "

A woman who admitted that she served her husband curry with dog excrement was reportedly let off with a warning. Jill Martin, 47, apparently decided to take drastic measures upon witnessing the disintegration of her marriage. She served her husband the tainted dish, and burst out laughing as soon as he started eating it.

Russian authorities have annulled the nuptial of a couple who were recently married in a town in Moscow after authorities discovered the groom was actually the grandson of the bride. Failing to check on their background, registry office officials allowed Boris Golovska, 30, to marry his 79-year-old grandmother Katarina in the town of Vladimir, east of Moscow.

The Netherlands's Maastricht University has awarded a British scientist his doctorate for a paper predicting that humans will someday marry robots. In his thesis entitled Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners which earned him his PhD. David Levy wrote stated that the "trends in robotics and shifting attitudes on marriage are likely to result in sophisticated robots that will eventually be seen as suitable marriage partners. "

Two newly-wed Chinese hope to land in the record books as the world's shortest couple. After postponing their marriage for three years, Li Tangyong, 3 feet 6 inches, of Shunde City, finally married Chen Guilan, 2 feet 3 inches, Oct. 1 joining 30 other couples in a group wedding at a park in the city.
