A blogger for the Washington Post Web site quit after allegations surfaced that he plagiarized movie reviews in college. Ben Domenech, 24, had recently begun writing the blog when Salon. com made the allegations against him. Jim Brady, executive editor of the Washington Post blog said, "In the past 24 hours, we learned of allegations that Ben Domenech plagiarized material that appeared under his byline in various publications prior to washingtonpost. com contracting with him to write a blog that launched Tuesday. "

In an event that would make a lot of men's knees go weak, a woman in Australia single-handedly captured a young crocodile she found swimming in her backyard pool. According to local reports, the woman captured the reptile, which measured over a foot-and-a-half in length.

A ceramic bowl painted by Richard Pryor raised $7,099 in an online auction benefiting an Ohio animal rights group. The bowl, in which Pryor painted a self-portrait before he died, was sold to GoldenPalace. com, an Internet-based casino company known for buying items online for charity and publicity.

It surely wasn't love at first sight. Mary Jane Weimer and George Longmire finally tied the knot after he stood her up on a blind date nearly 60 years ago. The couple met in 1946, when George was a law student at the University of North Dakota and working at the Grand Forks Police Department, and she was working as a nurse in the same town. A mutual friend set up a blind date, but George said, "it wasn't confirmed," so he didn't go, he tells The Grand Forks Herald newspaper.
