Fitchburg police recently got a complaint against none other than the Mayor of the city himself for chasing a woman and scaring her. The incident occurred Monday morning after Mayor Tom Clauder saw a woman pulling out a campaign sign near City Hall, and decided to discover the identity of the woman.
To much of Clauder's surprise the woman turned out to be the wife of his opponent, Jeff Nytes, who lost the city elections against him.
While Clauder billed the act as "really low," Nytes' wife, Jessica called it a "public service."
According to Jeff Nytes, the sign had been wrongly erected at the street right-of-way, as against the campaigning rules which require sign to be at least 33 feet set back from the center of the highway.
"And, she didn't steal the sign, just pulled it out and lay it down on the ground,"he told The Capital Times.
No charges are believed to be brought in the case.
