The mayor of Toledo is in hot water over an expensive shower he had installed in his office at the expense of the city's taxpayers. The cost of installing the shower was $9,996.00.

The mayor would have needed the city council's approval for a $10,000 expenditure. Staffers say the mayor had the shower installed so he could exercise at work. He's had heart surgery and is trying to stay in shape.

One city council member calls the new plumbing lavish and says the price appears to have been set in order to avoid a vote.

But the council's president is throwing cold water on the complaints, calling the shower stall a reasonable expense.
