The mayor of this rural South Carolina town was ticketed for doing 103 mph in a 55 mph zone.

He was light hearted about it to the Associated Press, stating, "Thank goodness I'm not trying to get re-elected."

Mayor Bert Reeves was given a $375 ticket Wednesday after his 2005 Ford F-250 was stopped on state Highway 303. An incident report states Reeves told the deputy he thought he was driving about 80 mph.

Cottageville is about 45 miles northwest of Charleston.
