A U.S. official said that two medical choppers collided in mid-air killing at least six passengers, and leaving one in critical condition in Arizona.
Authorities said the incident occurred near a hospital in Flagstaff, around 3:45 p.m. local time on Sunday, when both helicopters were on their way to the hospital.
According to Federal Aviation spokesman Ian Gregor, both aircraft were Bell 407 commercial helicopters. One of them was from Utah, Classic Helicopters of Wood Cross while the other chopper was from Colorado and operated by Air Methods from Englewood.
Gregor said all three passengers in one of the aircraft were killed, including a patient while another three people on the other chopper also died.
Local fire officials said that after the collision, both helicopters landed on the wooded area near the Flagstaff medical hospital.
