Armed Forces, Consortium In Project To Regenerate Body Parts For Injured Troops

The U. S. military and a consortium of biotechnology research organizations are embarking on a program to regenerate damaged tissues and body parts of American soldiers injured in Afghanistan and Iraq. InCytu Inc. , which develops tissue healing and regeneration devices, and Rutgers/Cleveland Clinic will constitute the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine (AFIRM).

Gay Patient To Sue Medical Staff Over YouTube Video Of Rectal Surgery

A 39-year-old homosexual threatened to sue medical staffs at a government hospital in the south of Manila, capital city,over a YouTube video clip of his rectal surgery, officials said Thursday. The YouTube video clip showed the medical staff laughing while removing the blue canister stuck from the patient's rectum during sexual intercourse, at the Vicente Sotto Medical Memorial Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City, south of the Philippines on January 3.

Pro Internet Sites Outnumber Online Prevention

Researchers find the Internet abounds with tips on suicide compared to a fewer number of sites offering suicide prevention, according to the British Medical Journal. The university study found almost half of Web sites listed by Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask revealed sites providing 'how to' advice while 13 percent of searches revealed suicide prevention information. Only 12 percent of searches result in sites that discourage suicide, according to AFP.

Skinny Models Are Out In France As The Fashion Industry Fights Anorexia

The French fashion industry led fashion houses, advertising firms and media outlets signed on Wednesday a charter to fight anorexia among models in magazine advertisements and catwalks. The anti-anorexia drive in the world's fashion capital was led by Health Minister Roselyne Bachelot along with groups in other countries worldwide. This will put an end to the display of ultra-skinny bodies of fashion models.

Gun-Wielding Illinois Robber Leaves Contact Information With Store Employees After 'Stick-Up'

Authorities arrested a man who attempted to rob a local muffler store, and left his contact number with the employees. At about 9 a. m. Monday, Ruben Zarate, 18 years old, allegedly went to a Mufflers for Less, and held up the place at gunpoint, insisting that the employees hand over the money. He was told, however, that there was no money in the store at the moment, as the manager was the only one with access to the safe, and he was not present.
