A hospital in Virginia is making up for slow service by giving patients in the emergency room who wait over 30 minutes for a doctor free movie tickets. Pam Hash, administrative director of emergency services at the newly opened St. Francis Medical Center says, "Shortening emergency room waiting times is part of a hospital-wide initiative aimed at improving patient care.

A court awards $5. 6 million to the family of a man who had a screwdriver shaft implanted in his spine by an orthopedic surgeon. The jury found Dr. Robert Ricketson, 48, negligent after he attached the stainless steel screwdriver to Arturo Iturralde's spine in 2001.

A German burglar has managed to dodge a prison sentence due to a wee problem with his penis. Apparently the inmate suffers from a permanent erection, and that landed him a get out of jail free card. Maurice Baumann, 32, was sentenced to a year's jail for burglarizing British homes.
