A meteorite worth $2,200 was stolen from a Connecticut gift shop at a nature activity center.

Workers at The Dinosaur Place noticed the 30-pound hunk of nickel and iron was missing on Monday. It's believed the meteorite was stolen either Friday or Saturday, the Hartford Courant reported.

The store, which offers everything from jewelry to fossilized dinosaur dung, has had toys stolen in the past, but nothing this valuable.

Storeowner Roger Phillips told the Courant he thinks someone must've walked off with the meteorite during business hours, as there was no sign of forced entry.

Phillips is also mystified about how someone could have walked out of the store with the 30-pound space rock, originally from Argentina, without being seen.
