Mexico police officials are now investigating a popular horror story-writer who allegedly chopped up his girlfriend from limb to limb and ate her.

Police said that Jose Luis Calva's first declaration after he was arrested was that he idolizes British actor Anthony Hopkins in his portrayal of the cannibalistic professor Hannibal Lecter, Brisbane Times said.

Calva was arrested near his residence at Mexico City's famous Guerrero neighborhood in the Historic Center on Monday.

According to Mexico City Attorney General's spokesman, Calva tried to run away but was hit by a car.

Authorities found human-flesh leftovers at Calva's residence, spokesman told the Brisbane Times.

Agents of the Mexico City Attorney General said that they also found other individual remains in Calva's living place and this includes human meat in a pan, human bones in a cereal box, and the mutilated body of Alejandra Galeana Garavito, a 31-year-old pharmacy clerk, hidden in a closet and the refrigerator.

But, Calva vehemently denied speculations that he ate her girlfriend.

Police also found an uncompleted novel titled "Cannibalistic instincts or 12 days" and two videos, in which Calva is one of the key speakers talking about cannibalism and black magic.

Meanwhile, the other video was about the existential and psychological problems that end in blood orgies and sex.
