A teenage suspected of engaging in a month-long killing spree of 19 pet cats in two Miami towns was charged Monday with 19 counts of animal cruelty and improper disposal of animal body.

Tyler H. Weinman, 18, of Cutler Bay was also charged with four counts of burglary and his bail was set at $249,500, according to police.

He could face a maximum of 158 years in state prison if convicted on all counts, CNN quoted Terry Shavez, spokeswoman for the state attorney's office, as saying.

Weinman, who was arrested Saturday, has allegedly skinned, mutilated and gouged out the eyes of cats in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay, where his divorced parents lived. The killing spree ran for four weeks starting May 13.
