A 10-day suspension was not enough to teach a Grand Rapids, Michigan school boy a lesson. Travis Griffin needed more punishment, according to his mother, Veronica.

While horsing around at school, Griffin put his teacher in a headlock. The 15-year-old was promptly suspended but to make sure he never did it again, his mother made him wear a sign on his back and pick up trash along five miles of roadway, according to Associated Press reports.

Veronica said, "He has to know when his actions are not appropriate that there could be consequences to those actions and those consequences could be humiliating."

Griffin said he did not mind wearing the sign, which read ""I made a bad choice in school now I'm living with it." He did, however get embarrassed about picking up trash and being chased by dogs.

He told a local television station, walking with the sign I didn't care too much about. Picking up the trash, yeah, I did care about that. I thought that was a little humiliating."

Griffin maintained that he was merely joking with the teacher but promised that he learned a lesson.

He said, "I know I am not going to do that again, put teachers in a full nelson. Although, I was joking around with him and he took it too seriously."
