The National Legislative Assembly in Thailand supports an anti-discrimination law and will let people who have undergone sex change to alter their title to "Mister," "Mrs." or "Miss."

In a report, Thai transgender, either men or women, will be allowed to choose how they would like to be addressed. The NLA supported the anti-discrimination provision and was already in the draft constitution.

Rector of Srinakharinwirot University and assembly member Wiroon Tangcharoen said he believed that room assignments in university dormitories would not affect any students because they were segregated by sex.

He also stated that students wishing to have sex change should produce proper medical certificates stating and proving that they have already gone sex-change operation.

"The university has nothing against male transsexual students staying in female dormitories on the campus," he was quoted as saying.

Thailand is one of the first countries that has been tolerant to gays, transvestites and transsexuals but transgenders still face social prejudice, family pressure and sometimes domestic problems.
