A Serbian prisoner who was having his weekend release, was caught red-handed after he robbed the house of the prison governor. Alija Cerimi, who was serving time in jail, was given a temporary liberty during the weekend. But instead of spending it with his family, he decided to rob a house belonging to the prison governor.

A British high street store has ordered 100,000 souvenirs to mark a royal engagement. The merchandise company is preparing to mark the engagement of Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton, in case they decide to wed sometime soon. Executives at the supermarket chain Woolworths are so convinced the young couple - who have been dating for three years - will soon announce their engagement that they are producing 20 commemorative products including mugs, spoons, car flags, computer mouse pads and even a mobile phone. A Will and Kate pick 'n' mix selection of sweets is also in the pipeline.

New Zealand's Qualifications Authority has okayed the use of "text-speak" - the mobile phone text message language - in national exams this year. The "text-speak" which has found its prevalence among most teenagers uses abbreviations such as "txt" for "text", "lol" for "laughing out loud" or "lots of love," and "CU" for "see you. " The authority said that although it strongly discourages students from using anything other than full English, but that credit will be given if the answer "clearly shows the required understanding," even if it contains text-speak.

Shanghai based Chiheng Foundation has decided to launch free hotline for lesbians in China first time. The foundation has already been providing same service for gay men. Yang Shanping from Chiheng Foundation told China Daily, "In the past, we noticed that lesbians needed extra help compared with gays. Most people don't know what kind of support lesbians need most. "

In a crazy incident, a 22-year-old British soldier, who recently returned from Iraq, suffered internal injuries after he lit a small firecracker that he inserted into his buttocks. The man suffered burns and other unspecified internal injuries in the incident on Sunday in Sunderland, 275 miles north of London during the celebration of Bonfire Night, an event in Brittan.
