Three teenage muggers from Hamburg, Germany are now in hospital after committing the mistake of trying to steal the mobile phone of a junior kick-boxing and karate champion. In his report to police, Pauli Borchardt, 17, said he was on his way home from a friend's house in Hamburg, when the three teenagers, all aged 17, blocked his path and demanded for his mobile phone.

Pope Benedict on Wednesday wore an old Saturno hat in St. Peter's Square, Vatican during his weekly audience with the public. The Holy Father surprised tens of thousands of people who gathered at the square by wearing an odd, "wide-brimmed" red hat while on his "pope mobile. " The hat is commonly known in Italian as a "saturno" due to its resemblance of the planet Saturn.

A study made by KRC Research and Goodyear found that Russians were the worst drivers in Europe with 25 percent admitting to having had sex while driving. According to the survey, Russians do not use seatbelts, break speed-limits, drive through red lights, drive drunk and have sex while driving more often than other Europeans.

Anyone longing to throw away their mobile can do it in style and may even win a medal. Such a feat of unusual athleticism, "Mobile Phone Throwing" World Championship, was held in Finland over this weekend. The contestants were supplied with the old phones, allowed to pick up one of their choice and asked to throw.

A man who has just returned from holiday has filed a suit against the South Holland Council after garbage collectors destroyed his luggage with over $3,000 worth of various valuables inside. The garbage collectors thought the bag was garbage. Phil Newbon from Spalding, Linconshire, in Great Britain said he left his baggage on the pavement fronting his home to talk with some friends. When he returned he was shocked to see his bag being crushed by grinders inside the garbage truck.
