Drivers in Memphis, Tennessee were surprised to see a teenage girl on Sunday who held the following sign: "I don't obey my parents, I'm a liar. I steal from my mom. I have a bad attitude."
The 13-year-old girl Tashara Wilkins was punished by her mom Cherie Wilkins after she was fed up with the misbehavior of her daughter.
According to AP reports, Cherie Wilkins said she'd done everything she could think of to keep her daughter Tashara in discipline but nothing has worked, so she decided the new way to teach her a lesson through public humiliation.
However, Tashara calls her mother's behavior as "cruel and unusual punishment" and said she is fond of boys and she doesn't see anything wrong with that.
AP quotes mother as saying, "I hope this works for her. I love my child. I want her to be a productive citizen."
"Most parents may think this is cruel. I don't, I could be beating her to death, but I'm not," she added.
However, Tashara added, "it might even work. I'm gonna start (behaving better) because I don't want to be standing out here with everybody looking at me like I'm crazy with this sign."
Tashara can be seen in her current punishment on Ridgeway all week and her mother also plans to have her wear the sign to church on Tuesday night.
