The mother of a 12-year-old car thief stormed out of a courtroom Thursday, threatening to blow it up, after a judge handed her daughter a 10-year sentence.
Judge Charles B. Curry sentenced Dekyra Bush to 10 years in state custody, after she crashed into two Polk County sheriff's cruisers in June. Deputies fired a total of nine shots into the car to stop her.
As her daughter was being escorted out by baliffs, Dekyra's mother burst out of the courtroom. The judge had the elder Bush brought before him, but did not find her in comtempt.
Bush said, "I'm gonna blow this s*** up. That's how upset I am."
During sentencing, the judge said what the 12-year-old did was not just a delinquent act, but implied she had endangered the public.
