A man is arrested after police say he told a 13-year-old girl to hand a bank teller a note threatening a holdup. Michael Lyons, 45, insists to police that he and a group of girls celebrating his daughter's birthday were simply playing a practical joke. A police report states the note read, "Give me all of your money, this is a stick up. "

Rosemary Ho, 24, mailed a money order to her local DMV for a speeding ticket, with a wad of chewed bubble gum. Ho put in the envelope a note to the Sante Fe DMV saying "Caution Touch at your own risk or use gloves. Ha-ha," the wad of gum was treated as a HAZMAT incident.

Stephen King and John Grisham are among 16 authors selling the right to have a character in a book named for the highest bidder in an effort to raise money for the First Amendment Project, a California-based nonprofit group that promotes freedom of information and expression. Details of exactly what each author is offering have been posted on Internet auction site eBay and the auctions will be held between September 1 and September 25, the group says, according to Reuters.
