Motorists Stop 12-Lane California Freeway, Scoop Up Dropped Cash

Motorists traveling at 65-miles-per-hour stopped on a busy 12-lane freeway east of Los Angeles on Sunday to scoop up money that fluttered out of a bag full of cash a motorcyclist had dropped. California Highway Patrol officers said that traffic was briefly halted on the eastbound San Bernardino Freeway as motorists stopped to grab cash that was blowing across the highway then got back into their cars with the money and left.

Study: U.S. Bills Most Contaminated With Cocaine Among Paper Money

Two Spanish chemists have found that U. S. dollar bills contained the highest traces of cocaine powder, indicating the popularity of the illegal drug. The study by Sergio Armenta and Miguel de la Guardia from the University of Valencia published in the latest issue of the journal Trends in Analytical Chemistry also found that Spanish euro notes are the most contaminated with the drug among European currencies.

Canadian Government Offers $300 Million To Tobacco Farmers To Switch Crops

Two cabinet officials announced in this farming town Friday that Ottawa is giving more than $300 million to Ontario's tobacco farmers to help them switch to another crop. Immigration and Citizenship Minister Diane Finley said the amount represents the funding of the government's Tobacco Transition Program "to help producers exit the industry, transition to other crops or find new opportunities outside agriculture," according to CBC. ca. The program is a federal strategy to fight smoking and the dangers it pose to health.

Lottery Winner Waits Nearly A Year To Claim His Millions

A $3. 6 million lottery winner waited nearly a year to claim his prize, keeping it a secret from everyone but his mother. Peter Dushop, 24, told reporters he put the winning ticket in a safety deposit box upon realizing he won the prize because he wanted time to think about how the money could change his life and about what would be the best way to handle the large sum of money.

Man Stabbed To Death In Dispute Over Trade Of Crack-Cocaine For Steaks.

A man was fatally stabbed Thursday night after an altercation arose in a drug deal in which crack-cocaine was traded for steaks. Brothers Gerald and William Gillespie reportedly showed up at their drug dealers house hours after the deal was made. They thought they'd been short changed in the deal, and wanted more crack, or money, or some of the $117 worth of steaks back.
