Toronto Janitor Wins $7.4 Million Top Prize In Lotto Draw

A janitor at the Ottawa-Carlton District School board won the top prize in the July 16 Lotto 6/49. Kevin Frost, 39, picked up his $7. 379 million check Thursday. Being persistent finally paid off for Frost, who has been betting on the lottery since he was 18. Frost said he plans use his winnings to pay his mortgage, buy a house and travel to Scotland to play golf.

Couple Plotted To Fake Husband's Death Sentenced To Six Years Each In Prison

An English couple who schemed to fake the husband's death in order to collect the insurance money has been sentenced to more than six years each in prison. The plot of the deceitful couple began to unravel in December 2007, five years after John Darwin and his wife conspired to fake his death in a canoeing accident, when John, 57, walked into a London police headquarters saying he had amnesia.

Texas Man Kills Self In Elaborate Attempt To Make Death Look Like Murder

Police who initially thought Thomas Hickman, 55, was murdered in New Mexico, after he was found duct taped and shot in the back of head. But now police say the Red Lobster executive re-enacted an episode of CBS's show "CSI" in which a man tied helium balloons to the gun he used to kill himself with so that the gun would float away, leading crime scene investigators to believe a murder was committed.

Two Elderly Women Sentenced To Life In Prison After Killing Homeless Men For Insurance Money

Two women in their 70s were sentenced to life imprisonment in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday for killing two homeless men to collect the victims' $2. 8 million life insurance money. Helen Golay, 77, and Olga Rutterschmidt, 75, received the sentence from Judge David Wesley. A jury convicted the septuagenarians dubbed the "Black Widows" in April for running over Paul Vados, 73, in 1999 and Kenneth McDavid, 50, in 2005.
