Lottery Winner Returns To McDonald's Job

A man who found himself the winner of a Ł1. 3 million ($2. 6 million) lottery recently returned to his job at a local McDonald's after living a rich life, simply because he missed his co-workers. The man, 25-year old Luke Pittard, won the lottery with his girlfriend and co-worker, 29-year old Emma Cox, 18 months ago, leading Pittard to quit his job as the restaurant's staff trainer. However, he decided to return because of the fact that he simply loved his job.

Survey: Generosity Towards Others Brings Greater Happiness

A recent survey revealed that those who spend a reasonable amount of money on other people experience greater elation than those who buy things for themselves. Scientists from the Harvard Business School gathered 632 Americans and questioned them about their income, their spending habits, and their level of happiness. Separately, the experts gathered 16 professionals up for a bonus between $3,000 and $8,000, and asked them similar questions six to eight weeks before, and after the bonus.

Woman Demands To Collect Civil War Debt Payment

A 77-year-old woman filed a $22. 7 million lawsuit against the city of Tampa for not paying back a loan given by her great-grandmother during the Civil War. Joan Kennedy Biddle, said that her ancestor Thomas Pugh Kennedy loaned the city $300, and in return received a promissory note, with the city promising to give the money back. The note was dated June 21, 1861.

Ten-Year-Old Pickled Fish To Be Auctioned For Over $200,000

A 'fish in formaldehyde,' a piece of work by artist Damien Hirst that has been displayed for almost a decade at a fish and chips shop will go under the hammer at an auction at Bonhams. It is expected to fetch as much as 150,000 GBP ($202,000 USD) when Bonhams opens the bidding later this year. The fish was given by Hirst in 1994 to Darren Walker who went to school with his brother Bradley. Now Walker plans to use the money he will derive from the auction of the artwork to clear his mortgage. Walker ran the shop until it closed in 2002. For eight years the fish was mounted on a wall without a label beside the counter.

Teenager Enjoys Bond With Python

A teenager from South Africa has developed an unusual yet strong bond with a 10-foot long Burmese long python, a bond that has been sustained for two years. The teenager, 11th-grader Simone Naidoo, got the python named Theo after falling in love with snakes at 10 years old. She saw the slithery creatures displayed at a window during a grade school fair.
