A father shot at his son's computer monitor earlier this week, explaining to deputies that he did it because his son spent all his time playing games on the computer instead of doing his housework. Joseph Langenderfer's son, Tim, 21, called 911 and said he and his dad were arguing and his dad had just shot at him.

The English language should be adopting its one-millionth word sometime this summer. The Global Language Monitor, a San Diego linguistic consultancy, gauged the rate of progress based on the fact that on March 21 there were about 988,968 words in the language, plus or minus a handful. GLM has its own formula that measures the language as found in print, electronic media and on television and radio, the Independent says.

According to a new survey almost a quarter of U. S. workers who use a computer at work admit to having searched for a new job on their companies' time and resources, according to a new survey by Hudson. While another 30 percent send and receive personal e-mails at work at least most days, if not every day. Most workers who use computers say their employers know they use the Internet for personal business.

Six teenagers are arrested on drug charges after a parent flips through a cell phone to discover a text message and photo advertising a pound of marijuana for sale. Police say Farmington teens would call teens in Shrewsbury, Mass. to arrange a drug sale. The teens in Mass. would then allegedly use the phones to take pictures of the product and send them to Connecticut.

Baltimore will soon have talking surveillance cameras monitoring and reprimanding law breakers. Five talking cameras - armed with motion detectors, a bright flash and a recorded warning - are approved to monitor the streets.
