A survey by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) found that most British youngsters would rather be famous than go to school.

About nine percent of the youngsters believed that being a tabloid-style celebrity would allow them to earn money without skills or qualifications.

"Young people realize that you don't need skills for being famous and believe it is easy, which it is not," Max Clifford, Britain's best known publicist, tells Reuters

The LSC says the odds of getting on a reality show like "Survivor" and then bankrolling that fame into real celebrity are about one in 30 million. Young Britons would have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Clifford recommends staying in school instead of relying on fame.

"I would say to star-wannabes: See it as the lottery, try it but don't count on it, don't rely on it," he says.

"Get yourself educated, get yourself a job, get yourself a situation."
