A Central Florida man is worried about his health after someone laced his soda with urine as part of a vicious prank.
The unidentified man is awaiting results of numerous health tests he has since undergone. Publix, who owns the Pix convenience store where the man purchased the drink, admits the soda was tainted.
The victim, a local construction worker, says he purchased and drank a Mountain Dew bottle that had actually been filled with an employee's urine. He got about halfway through the bottle before he noticed the taste was not the usual Dew. He began vomiting uncontrollably in the parking lot.
On Tuesday, the man received confirmation that the liquid inside the bottle was indeed urine, after tests proved positive.
The day of the drink, the man says he went back inside the store and informed the manager, who responded it was just bad syrup. Later in the day, an employee at the store called the victim to tell him a disgruntled co-worker had tampered with the bottle.
"He went in the back. He opened the bottle, urinated in it, put the cap back on and put it back on the shelf," explained the clerk.
The victim is now concerned about what he might contract.
A Publix spokeswoman says the employee has admitted to urinating in the bottle and was suspended. They would not release his name and law enforcement was not contacted.
