World's Oldest Tree May Have Been Found In Sweden

According to scientists, who sent samples of the tree to a laboratory in Miami, Florida, the Norwegian spruce dates back to nearly 8,000 years. It grows at a height of 950 meters above sea level, is more than two meters (6. 5 feet) tall and about 20 centimeters (8 inches) in width.

Candles Banned In Ice Church

Authorities in a Romanian church carved entirely out of ice has ordered a ban on candles from its parishioners to keep the structure from melting. The 200-foot church located in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains overlooking the Balea Lake had been fully-booked wedding and baptism ceremonies that candles have been burning almost non-stop damaging the church interior.

British Grandma Paraglides From A 760-Meter Peak To Mark Her 100th Birthday

Peggy Mcalpine, a British pensioner has set the world record as the oldest person to paraglide from the top of a 760-meter peak in the Five Finger mountains in northern Cyprus. She did it not just for fun, but to mark and celebrate the fond memories of her 100th birthday. "I had a wonderful time and I would love to do it again, but I will give it a few years and let someone else have a go at beating the record," Mcalpine was quoted as saying right after she leaped from the mountain range.

British Climber Who Lost Fingers, Toes Completes 7x7 Peak Challenge

A climber who was told he would never be able climb again after he lost his fingers and toes to frostbite eight years ago, has become the first Briton to complete the 7x7 peaks challenge. Nigel Vardy, who nearly died in 1999 while ascending Mount McKinley in Alaska, has claimed a place in the record books by scaling the seven highest peaks on the world's seven largest islands.
