A snake struck man from Rockvale has discovered that a first-aid scene after a snake bite in films may not hold any good in real life. Mike Edwards was working on his farm near Rockdale on Saturday when a timber rattlesnake bit one of his index fingers. The standard snakebite scene in many Hollywood movies shows the victim applying a tourniquet to the limb and then cutting the wound and sucking out the venom.

A pink and gold-painted elephant stirred controversy last weekend amongst Los Angeles Animal Services. The elephant was part of an art exhibition by UK Artist Banksy. The 38-year-old Indian elephant was painted and put inside a "mocked-up" house to represent the way world poverty is ignored.

The mayor of Gallatin, Tennessee was duped by filmmakers who said they wanted to use his office to shoot a scene for a "family friendly" movie. Mayor Don Wright was surprised to learn from the front page of the Nashville Tennessean that the movie's title is "Thong Girl 3. " He tells Reuters, "I had no idea what the movie was about. . . They told me it was about a superhero woman and there was no nudity or offensive stuff in it. Other than that, I really didn't have a clue. "

Instead of using the yellow, blue and white little stacks of play money, a new version of the classic Monopoly game in Britain will feature a Visa-imprinted debit card instead. Chris Weatherhead, spokesman for Hasbro Inc. , said, "we started looking at what Monopoly would look like if we designed it today. We noticed consumers are using debit cards, carrying around cash a lot less. "

A teenage couple crashed on board a small-chartered plane in which the young man planned to propose to his girlfriend. The engagement ring was lost in the accident. Adam Sutton, 19, told his girlfriend Erika Brussee, 18, they were going on a date to the movies. Instead of going to the movies as promised, Sutton took her to the airport in Rome, Georgia. They boarded a small-chartered flight on Friday.
