Mumbai's top civic agency is going to post and fine all employees and officials spitting in the halls and stairways.
All violators will be reprimanded and their photographs, names and titles posted on bulletin boards and headquarters of the Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation, which is responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness and upkeep of roads and buildings.
Agency official Rajeev said, aside from public shame, they will also have to pay a fine of $5.
One worker already has become "Spit Employee of Today" since the campaign started Monday, Rajeev said.
"People spit and litter if they think no one is watching. When we put up these photographs, everyone will know," Rajeev said.
