It came as a surprise and relief for a 59-year-old woman when the thief who stole her purse stood next to her in a book store. The victim went to a Hastings Books and Music on Tuesday to tell the store that someone had stolen her purse and used her credit card to buy $200 in DVDs. While she was standing there, a man who stole her purse came up to the counter and tried to return eight DVDs in exchange for cash. However, when the manager came to handle both transactions, she linked both the cases and informed the victim that the culprit was in front of her.

The Congolese Observatory for Human Rights is protesting Congolese officials who lodged a group of Pygmy musicians performing at the Festival of Pan-American Music in a zoo. Other artists performing at the festival received hotel accommodations. "We vigorously protest the discrimination, exploitation and bad treatment of these 20 indigenous people," the rights group said. "Since their arrival in Brazzaville on July 4, these people have been sleeping exposed to mosquitoes and the cold . . . whereas the other delegations have been housed in hotels. "

Police in Britain reportedly arrested a female juror in a London murder trial for using a traditional hijab headscarf to conceal the earphones of her MP3 player she used to listen to music during an ongoing trial in the court. The Muslin woman, whose identity has not yet been released, is said to be in her 20s. Police accused her of using the MP3 player to avoid listening to evidence in the trial of Alan Wicks, a retired businessman who was accused of beating his disabled wife to death.

Authorities in a Chinese town have launched a new open toilet palace which features 1,000 innovatively designed urinals set in Egyptian style facade. While some of the urinals are shaped like a woman's mouth, others resemble the crocodile's mouth and the bust of a woman.

A Philadelphia Court Judge on Tuesday acquitted a 20-year-old Rittenhouse Square singer from all charges after a police officer arrested him for singing too loudly in the park. "A Change Is Gonna Come" singer Anthony Riley was jailed for refusing to succumb to a police officer's demand that he stop singing too loudly and faced a three-month sentence for the March 27 incident.
