Police in Britain reportedly arrested a female juror in a London murder trial for using a traditional hijab headscarf to conceal the earphones of her MP3 player she used to listen to music during an ongoing trial in the court.
The Muslin woman, whose identity has not yet been released, is said to be in her 20s. Police accused her of using the MP3 player to avoid listening to evidence in the trial of Alan Wicks, a retired businessman who was accused of beating his disabled wife to death.
The Sun reported Monday that the incident happened in Blackfriars crown court, central London. It was not the first time the woman has attempted to avoid jury duty. She postponed her first summons and escaped her second two weeks later by claiming a toothache.
