Police arrested two men who wheeled a corpse in an office chair through the streets of Manhattan, with an attempt to cash in the dead man's Social Security check. The pair, David J. Dalaia and James O'Hare, pushed the chair that contained the body of 66-year old Virgilio Cintron from the two men's apartment in Manhattan, to the Pay-O-Matic, a store that cashes checks. They pushed the corpse for one block, according to witness testimonies reported by the police.

The Berlin Zoo celebrated the first birthday of its famous polar bear Knut, who was born and then rejected by its mother. The birthday celebration, which was held Wednesday, involved more than 2,000 attendees by noon, and was highlighted by a giant birthday cake made from 300 eggs and 22 pounds of marzipan.
